Name: Alexandra Ivy
Alias: Deborah Raleigh, Debbie Raleigh
Tell us a little bit about yourself.
I think I’m like most writers who started writing as soon as they could pick up a pen. I scribbled my own versions of Nancy Drew and later I wrote my own romances (since I could create far yummier heroes than my high school offered J) but it wasn’t until I entered college that I thought of becoming a professional writer, although at the time I was a theatre major and I was busy trying to walk in the footsteps of Neil Simon and Oscar Wilde. Once I married and had my first child I turned back to my love of reading romances and started writing my first of many, many manuscripts that I sent to New York before my first regency romance was purchased by Kensington. Since then I’ve written longer historicals before moving onto contemporary paranormals.
A combination of action, love, and a large dollop of humor.
Complete this sentence: I write ___ because…
I write paranormals because I love the opportunity to create my own world and populate it with immortal creatures that stir the imagination…oh, a little lust J
Do you prefer to see your work in electronic, print or both forms? Why?
Both. I’m not a one or the other kind of person. I think there will always be a place for print books and I love walking through a bookstore or a library. I’m like a kid in a candy store. But I do buy books for my kindle because of space issues. My husband would freak if I had a thousand books stacked around the house
Tell us about your favorites and why:
a. Hero - Mr. Darcy…hands down! I fell in love with him when I was in high school and never got over my massive crush.
b. Heroine - Polgara from David Eddings fantasy series. She was a kick-ass heroine long before they were popular.
c. Villain - Voldermort. He’s such an unapologetic bad guy. I like it J
e. Happy ending - Pride and Prejudice. Darcy doesn’t just grovel…he actually goes out and rescues her family from scandal.
For readers who have never read your work before, what book would you suggest they read first? Why?
I would suggest WHEN DARKNESS COMES the first in the series. The books are all meant to be stand alones but there is an overarching storyline and several characters make visits in future books.
Here is a little of what Alexandra Ivy has to offer her readers:
The Guardians of Eternity can be purchased at any bookstore or online retailer!
The Sylvermyst have a reputation as sinister cousins to the fey, and none are more mysterious than Ariyal and his tribe. To save his people from banishment, he sold himself to the evil Morgana. Finally free, he faces a new challenge: Jaelyn, an elite vampire warrior sent to capture him. By rights, he should kill her on sight. Yet he cannot bring himself to hurt her—or to resist her…
Jaelyn is stunningly beautiful, utterly lethal—and always alone. Until Ariyal. From their first encounter, she knows that what’s between them is more dangerous than simple lust. And as they unite to thwart a terrifying prophecy that will mean the end of his clan and of the world they know, she will risk everything to fulfill her destiny by his side…
In the first of a mesmerizing trilogy, Alexandra Ivy, author of the Guardians of Eternity series, introduces the Immortal Rogues—three vampires duty-bound to protect their own kind even as they fall prey to mortal desires…
Centuries have passed since Gideon Ravel dwelled among humans. Now he must infiltrate the cream of London society to earn the trust of one woman. Simone, Lady Gilbert, possesses an amulet of unimaginable power, and no concept of the threat that surrounds her. The ton’s gossip prepared him for her beauty and wit. But he is blindsided by her barely disguised sensuality and his growing need to possess her...
None of the idle aristocrats who vie for Simone’s attentions know about her past. To them, she is the sophisticated, worldly widow known as the “Wicked Temptress.” The truth would ruin her, and she has never been tempted to reveal it until now. Yet beneath Gideon’s bold, black-eyed stare is a hunger that demands satisfaction and complete surrender…and a secret far more dangerous than her own…
Tell us about your upcoming work.
The next book in the Guardian series will be FEAR THE DARKNESS coming Sept. 2012. This will be Caine and Cassie’s story and wraps up quite a few loose ends J It’s not the end of the series, but it’s a very big turning point.
