Most recently published work.
In December, I'll have put out Staking Their Claim (Katie Blu) at Siren and Prey Tell (Katie Blu) at Resplendence. My most recent Mia Watts books would be Feral Lust at Resplendence and Good Will Shopping at MLR Press.
Tell us a little bit about yourself.
I'm a full time writer of erotic romances. I love what I do, and though I have other jobs that help me keep me at home, it's all so that I can be the single mother of two amazing girls. I live in Grand Rapids, Michigan. I write and think about writing constantly, but very few people around me know what I write for a living, and I like it that way. Less judgment.
I write by the seat of my pants and hang on for dear life.
I write male/male erotic romance because everyone deserves a love story. I feel privileged to be among the authors giving this genre a voice.
Do you prefer to see your work in electronic, print or both forms? Why?
Both! I think electronic is far more accessible, and I definitely want that. However, I never get over the feeling of holding my work in my hand and seeing it on my bookshelf. It's thumbing a nose at those critics who think epublishing isn't "real" writing.
Tell us about your favorites and why:
If you're reading Mia Watts for the first time, I'd recommend either Bad Boys (Total-E-Bound) because it was my first one and gets a lot of mail, or She's Got Balls (Resplendence Publishing) because it's funny, sexy, and continues to sell well. If you're reading Katie Blu, I'd recommend Surprised by Desire (Ellora's Cave, cougar story) because it's fast and speaks to a lot of female insecurities with younger men, while maintaining its humor, or Faery Surprising, because it's my favorite m/f book to date. Although, it's published under Mia Watts (Resplendence), it's still a Katie for its sub-genre.
Here is a little of what Mia/Katie has for her readers:
I'm proud to release my first male/male regency shape shifter, Feral Lust (Resplendence)!
I'm hoping for reader feedback to see if I should continue along this path. I'm also pleased to announce Twelve Nights (Resplendence) a re-adaptation of Shakespeare's Twelfth Night (think She's the Man).
January 11th is my Ellora's Cave release day. Katie Blu is part of their introduction to EC for Men line. My book, Nailing the Boss releases with that introduction.
Tell us about your upcoming work.
I'm looking toward my January 25th Katie Blu release (Resplendence) entitled, Skin Deep. This one is a Navy SEALs book about a SEAL falling for the daughter of his unit commander. I'll revisit that world later in the year too. I'll also be looking toward a six book series release by Mia Watts -- the Mommy's Little series -- at Resplendence, on February 15th. This tongue-in-cheek series is about having fun.
Why are you attending Authors After Dark 2012? Why should your readers attend?
Because I love it!! I enjoy it every time I go. Stella does an amazing job, and I get to meet all the readers and fellow authors that I have been communicating with over the past year. I also get to meet new ones, and the opportunity for me to be a fan girl also exists.
A personal note to my readers.
I love you guys. You have no idea how your emails encourage me. I love to hear from you, and if you're on twitter, I would love to connect with you. It's the best way I can think of for reaching a realistic relationship. I look forward to meeting you all there at AAD!!
