Saving the world...
one book at a time

Debbie Gould - March 2009

Interviewed by Teagan

Book Wenches has recently had the honor of interviewing author Debbie Gould. Debbie currently has two wonderful books reviewed by our site, Mountain’s Echo and Infidelity.

********

Your book Infidelity has recently been published in print, congratulations, tell us how that made you feel and what your reaction was when you found out.

Oh my gosh, It’s so darn exciting. Mountain’s Echo is in print as well, so it’s twice as exciting with Infidelity. I’ve never regretted my decision to go to an e-publisher, Red Rose Publishing is awesome to work for. But holding your book in your hands is a special feeling.

Has being published changed you or your life at all? If so, how?

It really hasn’t. Other than to push me to finish my other stories. Friends and family are all very proud of me which is a nice feeling, but I always worry, will other people like my work?

Of all the things you have accomplished with your writing, is there one thing that stands out the most for you?

Oh, definitely getting both books in print. That is just so cool. It’s so hard to get into NYC. So when I submitted my MS to Red Rose and was accepted, I was very happy to be able to get my stories out there for people to read. Now Red Rose has grown so much we are able to go to print. It’s all very cool, they’ve even made a deal with Target so our print books are available at Target.com as well as Amazon.com.

Where do you get your inspiration for the stories you write?

My daughter was a big inspiration for me with Mountain’s Echo. She had awful luck with men. They’d treat her awful and she got to the point where she just gave up. The hero in Mountain’s Echo was the guy I kept dreaming she would find. BTW, she did find Mr. Right and is very happy.

Music is also a big inspiration for me. I always have music playing when I write.

Did you always want to be an author? Why or why not?

I didn’t start thinking seriously about it until about 5 years ago. I looked around my room at all my books and thought “Hey, I can do this.” I have tons of stories in my head I want to tell. Of course it wasn’t anywhere near as easy as I thought it would be, but reaching “The End” is such a gratifying feeling it’s all worth it.

Can you tell us about any works in progress?

Betrayal is what I’m working on at the moment. It’s the follow up to Infidelity, Dan’s story. Infidelity was fairly dark, but Betrayal is not. Then there is Sin’s of the Mind. That is a romance/thriller and very dark in nature. We’ll see how they turn out. I’m also working on Love Letter’s a contemporary.

Please share the ways your fans can find you, website, Facebook, MySpace etc.

Is there anything else you would like to share with your fans, maybe something they might now know about you?

I have two stories in a Sweet Anthology from Freya’s Bower called One Touch One Glance. Hmmm, I have three wonderful kids, a daughter 25, who is in the Air Force, a son 23, who works for the family Water Well Drilling business and a son 18, who’s a senior in HS. I live in Vermont and work as a nurse in a family practice.

I want to thank you guys. You’ve got an awesome site and I’ve already found some new authors to buy. Keep up the great work!

WOW Debbie, thanks for a wonderful interview. As a huge fan, I am so excited that you have plenty of books coming out to keep me busy. It was fabulous talking with you and I am sure your fans are as thrilled as I am to read the follow up to Infidelity.
